 God Finds Himself by Creating

In the hush before the dawn of days,

A silence deeper than the sea—

God lingered, thought, and turned His gaze

Upon the well of mystery.

No mirror yet to show His face,

No echo yet to shape His name,

He dreamed of stars and time and space,

Of light and love and living flame.

He spoke, and galaxies unfurled

Like ribbons from His outstretched hand;

He sang, and rivers crossed the world

To paint the promise of the land.

Each atom spun, a whispered thought,

Each creature born, a hope made real—

In every line and curve He wrought,

He found a self He’d yet to feel.

Through laughter, longing, joy, and pain,

He learned His heart in what He made;

Creation’s song, a sweet refrain,

Reflected Him in light and shade.

So God became by letting go—

By scattering His soul like seeds.

In every “yes,” in every “no,”

He found Himself in all our needs.

And still He shapes, and still He learns,

In every dawn, in every end—

For God, in making, ever yearns

To know Himself through what He sends.
