Only if we understand,
Will the world unfold its song—
The hush of roots beneath the land,
The ache of right, the sting of wrong.
Only if we pause to see
The sorrow woven through the day,
The silent plea, the trembling tree,
The hearts that hunger, lost, astray—
Only then, within our chest,
Will something gentle start to bloom:
A tenderness, a quiet quest,
A wish to chase away the gloom.
Only if we care, we find
The courage blooming in our hands—
A bridge of hope from mind to mind,
A light that suffering understands.
Only if we care, we’ll hear
The whispered call for help, for grace—
And turn with open eyes and ear
To meet the need, to take our place.
Only if we help, the world
Will soften, heal, and start to mend—
A tapestry of hearts unfurled,
A kindness flowing without end.
Understanding lights the way,
Caring gives our hearts their scope—
And helping, day by patient day,
We build a world that lives on hope.
