Awakening
Who looks outside, dreams—
Sees castles in the drifting cloud,
Chases shadows on the streams,
Wanders through the restless crowd.
The world is bright with longing’s hue,
A thousand wishes, wild and wide;
We chase the things we think are true,
And find ourselves unsatisfied.
But who looks inside, awakens—
Finds a dawn behind closed eyes,
A silent space where fear is shaken,
A deeper self the heart belies.
Within, the world is calm and deep,
A well of peace, a flame of light;
No more to hunger, no more to weep,
For all is whole within our sight.
Outside, the dream is always turning,
A dance of hope, a fleeting gleam;
Inside, the soul is quietly burning—
Awake at last from every dream.
So close your eyes, and gently see
The truth that waits, serene and wise:
The world you seek will always be
Reflected in your own clear eyes.
