The Depth Where Peace Begins
You searched for calm in moving things—
In tidier rooms, in wedding rings,
In distant hills, or softer light,
In changing wrong to what feels right.
You shaped the world with desperate hands,
Moved chessboard pieces, drew new plans,
But peace, elusive as a flame,
Would vanish every time it came.
Until one night, when all fell still,
No grand success, no climbing hill,
Just breath and bone and silent grace—
You met yourself in empty space.
No mask to wear, no role to play,
No past to chase or debt to pay,
Just presence—vast and raw and true—
A boundless field inside of you.
Not what you have, or do, or own,
But that which simply stands alone—
The witness watching rise and fall,
The quiet self beneath it all.
And in that depth, beyond the noise,
Beyond the loss, beyond the joys,
You found what all the seeking missed:
The peace that always did exist.
